According to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) deputy governor for Tourism Products and Business Vilaiwan Twichasri kicked off the two-month annual Amazing Thailand Grand Sale. Up to 80% discounts will be offered to those who wear traditional Thai costumes while shopping at participating stores, the special activity has been inspired by TAT's Discover Thainess 2015 campaign. The aim is to promote Thai culture and to add an "element of fun" to shoppers around the country.

Thai and foreign shoppers wearing Thai dress would be able to get discounts at 20 malls including Siam Paragon, Siam Center, CentralWorld, Gaysorn, Amarin, Terminal 21, Emporium, Megabangna, Central Chidlom, Central Embassy, ZEN, EmQuartier, Platinum Fashion Mall, MBK Center, River City Mall, Krung Thong Plaza and Intra Square in Bangkok.

In addition, all branches of The Mall, Central and Robinson Department Stores nationwide will take part in this campaign as well as Jungceylon Shopping Complex in Phuket, which will offer special welcome gifts to shoppers joining the Thai dress campaign.
The Amazing Thailand Grand Sale was initiated by TAT in 1998 to boost tourism and visitor expenditure, further building the image of Thailand as a major shopping destination.

This year's campaign is launched in seven provinces including Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Hat Yai, Pattaya, Hua Hin and Udon Thani. About 15,000 shops in 110 malls and shopping centres take part in offering discounts of between 5-80% on certain goods and services. Thailand Grand Sale campaign runs until Aug 15.
