On September 13, 2014, Dr. Itti Ditbanjong, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Russian Federation, together with Dr. Pussadee Tamthai, Deputy Governor of Bangkok and Mr. Sergey E. Cheremin, Minister, Head of Department for External Economic and International Relations of the Government of Moscow jointly presided over at the Opening Ceremony of the Thai Festival in Moscow at Kuznetsky Bridge Walking Street in the heart of Moscow.

This event organized from September 13 - 14, 2014 is considered one of the many activities within the framework of Spotlight on Thailand in Russia 2014, a series of events organized during the entire period of September 2014.

 The event aimed to promote Thailand’s art and cultural uniqueness, as well as to further strengthen the country’s confidence among the Russian public and Thai - Russian cooperation. Thailand’s popularity was reflected through the cooperation between the Royal Thai Embassy and the Government of Moscow whereby the Russian policy makers rendered permission for this special event to be held in the heart of Moscow City.

In line with the current Russian government policy to boost closer ties with its Asian trading partners, the Thailand Festival cam at the opportune time to attract a growing consumer base in Russia. The highlight of the event was a gigantic floral masterpiece pieced together by more than 200,000 orchids. The floral exhibition was organized by the tourism authority of Thailand.
