Associate Professor Subsai Kongsangdao and Kriangsak Atipornwanich, two doctors from Rajavithi Hospital of Thailand briefed media on 2 February 2020 that a combination of anti-flu drug (oseltamivir) and anti-retroviral drugs (lopinavir and ritonavir) commonly used to treat Aids patients is effective in treating patients who tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

The use was declared a success after a Chinese woman who displayed severe symptoms shortly after arriving Thailand from Wuhan, the People’s Republic of China, shows signs of improvement about 48 hours after the drug cocktail was administered.

Dr. Kriangsak Atipornwanich said Chinese health authorities have already started using the combination to treat coronavirus patients.  The total number of confirmed coronavirus patients in Thailand is 19 cases.  Eight cases have been treated with this combination, and released.  Eleven cases have still been treated in the hospital.
